Inspiring Tales From Some Of Our Patients

Patrick

Patrick John Carr was born on November 28, 2003, bringing endless joy to his parents and later becoming a proud big brother to Gavin. Life for the Carr family changed forever on August 22, 2008, when Patrick was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma at just four years old.
Over the next eight years, Patrick faced cancer with extraordinary courage. His journey included chemotherapy, radiation, blood transfusions, a stem cell transplant, and multiple surgeries. He traveled for specialized treatments in New York City and Philadelphia. After a brief remission, the cancer returned in 2011, and Patrick continued to fight bravely until his passing on July 6, 2015.

Patrick loved sports and being active—hockey, baseball, basketball, swimming, golfing, fishing, and biking. His compassion, charisma, courage, perseverance, positive spirit, and unforgettable smile touched everyone who knew him.

The Children’s Cancer Fund Strike Out Pediatric Cancer Weekend honors children like Patrick. Their courage inspires us to keep fighting—and fundraising—for a cure.
